When it comes to choosing substrates and nutrients, there is no single truth. Our first given in this respect is you, your experience and preferences, facility setup and ambitions. From there, we can advise you in the direction that works best for you. Cannabis is a crop like no other. You can simply feed it with NPK's and it will grow normally, but it will be tough to compete with our customers. It's the end product selling price that counts in the end: the value going in determines the value coming out again. Plagron tested each and every product in dedicated cannabis research projects, both internally and externally. Nutrient formulas were upgraded over time, based on experience with customers and innovation from within. Our research programs cover a broad range of products, like biostimulants, enzymes, organic and mineral matter. By crossing new findings and insights, we discover new ways to improve cultivation results and even outperform competitive products. As a heads up, we give you some insights about different options in substrates and nutrients. We keep hearing quite some myths and misunderstandings about our kind of products in the field. You are welcome to reach out to us and we will be more than happy to tell you all you want to know. Coco or stonewool? In short, we can say that both have pros and cons against each other. Plagron coco contains probiotics keeping your plant healthier and stronger. Stonewool on the other hand is totally clean, which can be relevant for buyers in the medical field. Plagron offers coco, peat and perlite mixtures in big bags, 50L bags, plugs, trays, grow blocks and slabs. Stonewool is available in plugs, trays, blocks and slabs in just about any size you want.
Liquid or powder nutrients? When you are used to liquids, this is probably more secure and comfortable to use than powders and it's also quicker and easier in terms of handling. Water Soluble Fertilizers (WSF) save logistical costs: we don't need to carry water. On the other hand, your local water quality might become an issue (which we can solve) and mixing concentrates properly is not as easy as it may seem (we can solve that, too). We have two powder options: one for ease of use and the other for optimal control. Both reliable and rock solid, of course.
Pro Liquid: Time is money. Liquid fertilizers are your best friend.
Recommended base nutrients: Base A, Base B.
Phase Steering: Control is key. Water soluble powder fertilizers are what helps you achieve it. Your light regime is the traditional 18/6 for grow and 12/12 for flower.
Recommended base nutrients: Pro Veg, Pro Flower, Pro Base.
Recommended additives: PFA15.
Pro Control: You’re funky, but in charge. Water soluble fertilizers are still the way to go, but your light regime deviates from the norm.
Essentially, to find your ideal fertilizer setup you need to ask yourself just two questions:
Do I want speed and ease of use, or do I want control?
What is the light regime I prefer?
If you answered “speed and ease of use” to the first question, we recommend our Pro Liquid line. Answered “control”? Then it depends on your light regime. If you stick to the standard 18/6 and 12/12, Phase Steering is right for you. If you use any other light regime, go with Pro Control. Let’s take a closer look at each style.
Pro Liquid
If your answer to the first question is speed and ease of use, there’s not even a need to ask yourself the next question. How’s that for speed? Anyway, the nutrients we’d recommend in this situation are both liquid: Base A and Base B. These mineral nutrients not only get you quick results, they’re also ready to use. That means you don’t need to spend your time carefully mixing powders into your nutrient solution. Time you can spend on extra plant care to get those fast yet amazing results you’re after!
Water soluble fertilizers
So you like to be in control. We get it. That’s why all base nutrients in our phase steering line are water soluble fertilizers (WSF). All our WSF products don’t use components with crystal water, because you add water yourself. That means these fertilizers are maximally concentrated and efficient in storage and use. They’re also fully dissolvable, meaning no remnants in filters or drippers. We can guarantee a clean, trouble-free use in all irrigation systems.
Phase Steering
The 18/6, 12/12 light regime is a classic for a reason. Our Pro Veg, Pro Flower and Pro Base are designed to optimally feed your plants at all its stages. Pro Base is used throughout the entire cycle, with Pro Veg or Pro Flower added depending on the plant’s phase. This trio of products brings efficiency and simplicity within reach.
Pro Control
Got you have a more specific light regime in mind? If you’ve got a clear vision on the subject, we recommend WSF A and WSF B. These fertilizers are fully adaptable to the phase your plants are in, whether it is vegetative growth, flowering or productive flowering. Combine them with Pro Base for a proper baseline, with WSF High K for added potassium, and with WSF MG for extra magnesium. Together, they give you complete flexibility and control over the nutrients your plants receive.
Additives
No matter which style you choose, you can always use additives for even better results. Our assortment currently contains two, with more in the works. PFA7 shortens the cultivation cycle, improves plant molecule biosynthesis for flower formation and increases plant tolerance to both abiotic and biotic stress by nutritional contribution. You can use PFA7 in both the Pro Liquid and Pro Control styles. PFA15 is a flower booster that contains a unique nutrient combination of phosphate, iron and potassium which is present as an organic molecule. It is used in the late flower phase to optimize the bud formation. This additive works with all three styles.
